How the service works
Interactive Brokers is a securities broker with access determined by account configuration and trading permissions. Distinguish a crypto-linked security from direct cryptocurrency trading. Where direct crypto is available, IBKR’s documentation identifies Paxos or zerohash as the execution and custody provider, depending on account type and residence. That service is not the same legal holding as a security in the brokerage account.

What determines your cost
For securities, compare the market-specific fixed or tiered commission schedule, order minimums, exchange charges where applicable and currency conversion. For direct crypto, use the separate provider arrangement and fee disclosure. A US account offer is not a universal Nordic tariff. Evaluate the amount and frequency of your own trades rather than selecting a plan from its lowest advertised rate.
When to consider it
Research IBKR when a broader securities portfolio and access to several markets are the main requirements. If crypto is essential, confirm the exact product, custody provider and transfer permissions before opening or funding an account. A brokerage statement, a crypto-provider statement and an external wallet describe different holdings; plan which records you need for each part of the journey.
