How the service works

Kraken’s instant purchase service and Kraken Pro spot trading are different ways to place a trade. The former presents a purchase quote; the latter offers order-book trading with its own pricing. Kraken Exchange holds assets in an account. Kraken Wallet is a separate self-custody product, so installing it does not automatically move your exchange balance into your own custody.

What determines your cost

Compare the instant quote’s spread and trading fee with the applicable Pro fee, then include your funding method. Withdrawal costs and minimums depend on the asset and network. Some funding methods trigger temporary withdrawal holds. A low trading fee therefore does not show whether the whole route fits a small purchase or a transfer you need to complete promptly.

When to consider it

Kraken is worth researching when order controls and a planned external-wallet withdrawal both matter. Start from the receiving wallet’s network, work backwards to the supported withdrawal route, and check the deposit method last. Keep exchange trading, wallet functions and other products separate in your comparison: their supported assets, access requirements and risks need not be identical.
