Key facts

  • Coinbase reports more than 720 potential victims identified across four operations.
  • Its S$18.9 million figure concerns potential losses prevented.
  • Police describe a multi-provider effort, rather than Coinbase acting alone.

The newly published account

Coinbase published an update on October 13 about its work with Singapore's Anti-Scam Centre. The company says four joint operations helped identify more than 720 potential victims and avert more than S$18.9 million in possible losses. It also says a prevention campaign reached its Singapore retail customers during the second half of 2026.

These are retrospective activity figures in a new company publication. They should not be read as thefts that occurred on October 13 or as money recovered for victims.

What the police release establishes

A September 3 Singapore Police Force release describes the fourth operation, conducted from July 1 to August 31. Police named Coinbase among eight participating digital-payment-token providers. They reported identifying over 355 victims and preventing more than S$8.94 million in potential losses through targeted interventions.

The release describes blockchain analysis followed by contact with victims, including telephone and in-person intervention. It also reports intelligence sharing with foreign authorities. The police figures describe the operation as a whole; they cannot be assigned entirely to one exchange.
