Binance said on Nov. 4 that it had replenished about 98% of the assets affected by a recent security incident, using its own resources. It is continuing to buy the remaining tokens through market and over-the-counter channels. The purchases may take longer because the tokens are less liquid.
The company said it had set aside more than 100% of the funds needed to cover the losses.
Binance also reported a new Proof of Reserves snapshot, taken at 00:00 UTC on Nov. 4. It covers 44 tokens, up from 10 in the previous snapshot, and is available on the company’s Proof of Reserves website.
Generating the full zero-knowledge proof is expected to take about 50 to 60 hours, Binance said, citing the computational workload. Once it is ready, users holding any covered token will be able to verify independently that their balances are backed at least 1:1.
Binance said it was continuing to acquire the remaining assets, reopen withdrawals in phases and strengthen safeguards.
