Norges Bank will make net foreign-exchange purchases equivalent to NOK 176 million per day in November 2026, the central bank said on October 30. It will buy foreign currency equivalent to NOK 300 million daily on behalf of the government and sell NOK 124 million daily to fund transfers of dividends and interest payments to the government.

The government receives petroleum revenues in kroner and foreign currency. Some of the revenue finances the non-oil budget deficit, while the remainder is saved in foreign currency in the Government Pension Fund Global. Norges Bank carries out the related foreign-exchange transactions on behalf of the Ministry of Finance.

The sales will fund transfers of dividends and interest payments. The total amount is NOK 29.4 billion. Norges Bank’s Executive Board decided in December 2025 that the amount would be funded through purchases of kroner, distributed evenly across eligible trading days from March 2026 to February 2027. The amount will not change.
